The Department of Health and Social care are seeking views to inform the development of the government’s major conditions strategy designed to improve the health of the nation and ease pressure on the health system, by better preventing, diagnosing and treating these major conditions:
- cancers
- cardiovascular disease, including stroke and diabetes
- chronic respiratory diseases
- dementia
- mental health
- musculoskeletal disorders
In our submission, we highlighted that alcohol plays a significant role in several of these conditions, and therefore that effective alcohol harm reduction policies will be crucial in the forthcoming major conditions strategy.
